Hi All

As you may see I知 new to this forum however not new to Electric痴
I知 an established Electrical Contractor who after a lot of research has decided to dip a toe into the world of PV.
Has anyone here done the same? I知 finding it a little like a secret hand shake club. Companies are not very forth coming regarding their products or information it seems.
I have completed the NICEIC course in York recently (But now have to do another days training due to a change to the enrolment rules) but the MCS scheme seems a mine field. Have to fit PV to get assessed and cant buy PV until you have MCS! Chicken and egg seemingly.
What advice have others got regarding this and how have they achieved accreditation?

Thanks

Hi

I'm new to the forum too!
I will be attending a PV course this friday but as you have stated already from my reading up and contact with companys they seem to be not very forth coming.
Seems like alot of red tape and alot of hoops we have to jump through. I have alot of questions i will be asking this coming friday, so until i have completed the course im affraid im in the same boat.

Hi mate. i have just started a new ltd company installing pv and having my m.c.s assessment next week. i have found it quiet easy from my experience and for one reason so advise you to do the same. I went to ecoskies training centre in chesterfield and its absolutely fantastic, its not just a training course for installing its basically a course to start your own business in pv, no stone is left unturned and by the end of the week you'll have the confidence and knowledge to get your m.c.s accreditation. cost is about 」900 to 」1000.
I'm not sure where you heard that you can't buy pv if your not m.c.s. approved because thats not the case, you must be m.c.s. approved if you want to take advantage of the new government feed in tariff that's all.
hear are some websites that you may find useful.
www.fitariffs.co.uk
www.ecoskies.com
www.solar-pv-systems.com
And one more tip, make sure you go to chesterfield for the course as the one in surrey is not as good.
hope this helps and good luck with you venture.
