Hi, the one day course will get you as qualified as the bloke who your talking about going as a junior to, PAT testing is a very boring job believe me, have a look at doing the 2391 and get into test and inspect much more lucrative and interesting. Regards Jimbo

I agree, PAT Testing is dull as dishwater and the work is very intermittent. There's no way around it, getting your 2391 will make you much more employable. Have you tried your local colleges? It usually runs for ten to twelve weeks and it's only one evening a week. It shouldn't cost much more than £300.

Hi sanglon.

Yep... PAT testing can be boring, but if u have enough customers its not a bad living.

For me i mail shot all businesses and estate agent, that let out property, its not law yet for
estate agents letting out property to have PAT, but the law does say that electrical equipment need to be safe when letting it loose to tennants, and for insurance purposes, its better peace of mind for the agent to have items checked, after all, its the landlord that pays for the PAT test.

if u have 2381, then why not go to the NICEIC and let them check out your work, and enroll as a domestic installer electrician, wods of money, as part p applies for all home owners.

hope this helps...
