Hiya,
I am selfemployed and have been working for one company for over 10 months now. The problem with the company is that they tend to alter the invoice down without consulting it first. So now I recognize they own me about four grand of all the invoices I have put in. Is there a path to recover the monies from them? Begging for answers. Thank you.

Hi
Im a little confused here.. You are invoicing a company for lets say £1000 and they are underpaying you, and that this underpayment as slowly become £4000 ??? if so how or why did you let it go on. Although i havent worked as a subcontractor or employed subcontractors but i belive if you employ subcontractors then they stop a percentage for taxes so maybe this could be the reason..
Have you actually asked the contractor what is going on ?

Hi,
As JohnC said above, employers who use sub-contractors should be deducting 20% if your C.I.S registered so could be that.

Hi Shark,
Bit late I know and hopefully you will have got things sorted.
joe-h makes a good point about the 20% CIS deductions, although, if that is the case, the contractor should be providing you with a voucher so you can quite clearly see what tax has or hasn't been deducted. If you aren't CIS registered, they could well be taking 30% tax from you.
In any event, if you invoice for a service and don't get paid what you invoiced, you should certainly query it, rather than let it mount up.
Good luck!
