Hello
Is using three core and earth cable to run between light fittings in a ring, switched together, using the third conductor to carry the switched feed, acceptable?
If so assuming BROWN for loop live, which colour GREY or BLACK should be used for the neutral loop?
The switched live being sleeved with a brown sleeve.

Hiya we have had a similiar problem to this in the company i work for our problem being mains wired smoke detectors in domestic premises, being the supervisior i contacted the NICEIC for their recommendation. They concluded that due to the colour changes that have happened there stance is that BLACK chould no longer be associated with neutral even if sleeved blue. If you take a look how we did 3 core and earth in the past with the old colours in order RED being Live, Yellow being sleeved RED SW/Live and Blue being sleeved BLACK for neutral they are still in the same order BROWN being Live, Black Being sleeved BROWN SW/Live and GREY being sleeved BlUE nuetral. My first post so i hope that the information helps and i have explained my self well, njust found this forum been in the trade for a long time and would be pleased if i can pass on some experiance. Hope this at least ansers your colour.
