Hi all,

I have been doing the home study for the 17th edition wiring regs exam next week.

I bought the electacourse 2382 study pack and CD-ROM

I am just wondering how similar the electacourse CD-ROM is to the actual exam?

Also are there any tips, particular answers if a certain phrase is used in the question etc?

Are all the answers for the exam in the 17th edition IEE wiring regs book that your allowed to take into the exam with you?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks
Mike

The answer to every question asked will be in BS7671 and not anly that its multi choice so you could have saved yourself the cash buying the study course and just booked the exam.

Hi Mike, I did the Electracourse home study and it worked for me. Many people say the 2382 exam is easy but don't be fooled, 3 of the 7 with me failed the exam! I had the highest mark and the others all done a 4 day course. I also done the 2377 the same way.

As a rough guess I'd say that around 30% of the questions in the exam were almost identical to the electracourse simulator, around 40% similar/very similar and around 30% I hadn't seen before. The biggest advantage for me (being useless on computers!) was practicing on the simulater beforehand as it's almost the same as the actual exam, so I new what I was doing in the exam.

My tips - watch the timer, you've got 2 minutes to answer each question. If you're stuck on a question use the 'flag' button and come back to it at the end if you've got time. Get used to the layout of the Regs before the exam, it makes it much easier if you know which section to look in for the answer.

Other than that you will find you know quite a few of the answers without looking and a little bit of revision/coursework beforehand and you'll pass no probs!

Good Luck!
