Terry, 90% visual, check fuse, condition of plug,cable and polarity. Make a log showing its test date etc and put a pass or fail sticker with date etc on it. Thats about it. Regards Jim

Terry a 110 V Transformer is centred tapped to earth so that if you get a shock it will only be 55V and quite safe, therefore is very important to also check it is earthed with the PAT tester or at least with an ohmeter, although this latter can`t discriminate to less than 1/2V or so.
As it is class I equipment you should also carry out an insulation test to see there is no much leakage. A calibrated PAT will do that for you.
