View Full Version : Buying an Electrical Franchise....good/bad way in?

Hello there.

As my mid to late 30's pass me by, I'm seriously considering a change of career. My background for the last 20 years has been in sales & I always regretted not getting a trade in my teens/early 20's.

Going back to collage full time, or dropping to a trainee salry are probably not realistic, with a wife, kids & ******** etc & so I find myself looking at Franchise opportunities.

A well established one that I've looked at, claims that it will provide me with the following qualifications....

C&G 2382
C&G 2377-02
C&G 2391

The main confusion seems to be that the above would qualify me as a 'Domestic Engineer' rather than a full blown 'Electrician'. Is it impossible to qualify as an 'Electrician' without serving an apprenticeship?

What further qualification would I require to enable me to move into commercial work?

Does anyone have any views on whether the franchise route would be a worthwhile way of getting into the industry?
