Hello, I am new here, can anybody please help me? I am 49 years young and want a change in life, and yes I would like to be an electrician! I am not a rich man, skint in fact!, I would like to learn around my current job, preferably free (college/ night/ weekend etc) as my wife is on disability allowance.
I have heard about react training/ new career skills on the radio, where they say the country is crying out for sparks! but after applying, I was told there is a fee of £5000.00 to £6000.00 is it worth me getting a **** out (they offer this too) are these courses bona fide? will I be able to work?
Can you offer any advice, please?. sam.

HI THERE, I AM ALSO NEW ON THIS FORUM. I LOOKED AT DOING ONE OF THESE COURSES BUT WAS ADVISED AGAINST THEM. I AM 39 AND RETRAINING TO ELECTRIC. I AM GOING TO MY LOCAL COLLEGE AND DOING A CITY AND GUILDS 2330 LEVEL 2 WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH INDUSTRY STANDARD QAULIFACATIONS FOR STARTING. MY LOCAL COLLEGE GAVE ME THE COURSE FREE BECAUSE IT WAS MY FIRST LEVEL 2. I THINK IT IS NORMALLY AROUND FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS, WHICH IS NOT BAD FOR A YEARS STUDY. YOU CAN ALSO APPLY FOR A GRANT. THE COURSE TAKES ME ONE FULL DAY AND TWO NIGHTS SO ITS OK FOR ME TO STILL WORK.

I HOPE THIS HELPS. REGARDS KEV
