Can any one help?

What are class III appliances? I know the text book definition, but does that mean that any appliance supplied by a transformer is catagorized as class III, e.g. laptop computer, low voltage VDUs, plug-in battery charger etc.

We have a franking machine supplied by an AC Adaptor that bears an identification mark showing it to be BS EN 60742 or 61558-2-6. Does this mean that the franking machine is class III appliance? There is no mark on the machine to indicate this.

Any help appreciated

As I understand it is equipment for which the protection against electric shock relies on the supply from a separated extra low voltage source, as in an isolating transformer to BS 3535. I know this sounds a little text book but separated extra low voltage it is. Regards Jimbo
