Wiring an Outside security lamp

Can i ask how a time served electrician would go about wiring an outside light.
I am currently studying my 2330 so i know it can be done through a socket, but can i ask what your usually course of action would be?

Dont forget if it is in a domestic installation then it is notifiable work.
I would install a fused spur next to the socket then 1.5 from fused spur to light fitting or you could install a weatherfroof switch as well
