I NEED ADVICE AND HELP PLEASE>

Hi,
Can anybody out there help.
I feel if Iam hitting my head against a brick wall.
I am by trade a process development engineer (plastic injection moulding) now everything in this is going abroad. Have been rarely doing much odd job here and there but sign up for course to train to become a sparky.
Iam at presant about 10months down the line have passed my essential electrics citb certified,
with the C & G 2381,pat testing and part p to follow.
So I though I would get experiance so I would go as a sparkys mate.
Told I need a CSCS card have passed that got the certificate. Now comes the hard bit to get the card I have been told need someone who has employed me on site for over a year and is CITB registrated to sign the paperwork HA HA If iam am going thro a career change and have not been on site for years how the bloody hell am I going to get round this. In the mobile testing centre the bloke agree with me that this seemed very stupied with the position I was faced with.
Please note that the course is not the type where you become a overnight sparky and it is costing me a few quid so I am in the position that I need work to help pay for it.
Over the years I have done loads of electrial work and general building jobs including building my own self build home and extensions.
Sorry to all you guys out there for making this a bit long but my head hurts with hitting this ******* brick wall.

Hi Everyone out there
Update but help needed.
Found out Friday 29th june Given incorrect info I needed the ECS card so now have booked this test. With 10 day before I can take the test and 21 days waiting for results ??? then posting forms it could be two months before I get this.
But the question nobody will seem to answer me is:
Can I go on site as a sparkys mate without it. (if I can get a job).
Some feedback would be great.

Chefski46, sorry my computer is playing up and getting on line is difficult at the moment, when Mr Seagate gets his finger out it should improve but that is another story. Now, what is the test you have booked if its the H&S you get the result the same day (or did when I took it) You can go on a site without it but if the site is JIB you will get asked for your card,you MAY get away with telling them you are awaiting a pre booked exam. The reason that I asked where you where based is that I may have been able to help if you had been a bit nearer to me. What about trying some agencies? I dont do traveling work anymore but agencies phone all the time. From what I can see there is plenty of work about you just have to give it a go, you may find you struggle at first but you get the hang of it soon enough also you might just get lucky and land a good number. Hi Jimbo.
Thanks for that: Yes it is the basic H&S: the time scales I quoted was from the JIB site I hope you are right to me it seemed strange in this day and age that you have to wait.
I do agree with you the agencies are the best route but it was them who said and advertised that I needed the CSCS card in the first place nevermind I have it sorted now so in the end will have both cards so I will be covered both ways.
So the hard bit is now to get that job.
Who do you recommend are the best agencies to register with??
