Fluke 1651

i just bought a fluke 1651, to help me in college

im trying to use it but when i try to zero the leads it just bleeps.

i put it to continuity touch the leads together i press zero and the test light on the lcd dispay comes upinstead of zero. am i making any sense to anyone

is my meter faulty?
