Can't work out why my bill is so high!

hi,
We have just moved house and our quarterly bill is up around 300%, obviuosly I'm not happy :cry: , but hey things could be worse ;)
I'm not on here trying to get your sympathy or money, although the latter (or either) would be great :D
Basically the question I'm asking is how to work out my energy consumption, I have been trying to do this all morning to no avail, to me it's all jargon.
So if anybody would be so kind to explain how I would work out the usage on a filter pump that is INPUT:220V~240V~50Hz
OUTPUT:12V~26VA
I am sorry if it seems like I'm just looking for an easy solution by asking you wonderful guys but I really have been trying all morning online and can't work it out.

Johighbill, the filter pump is not the problem even if its on 24/7, 26va is negligible so have a look else where. As its up 300% there in my book can be two explanations !) the meter has gone crook or, 2) a high load has been placed on the system. Try taking the meter reading in the morning and then again the next morning it should be around equal and not show a great difference day after day. We are in the hot (ish) months so central heating cannot be a draw, have you gone to an electric cooker? extra shower? You can get a check meter fitted by your supplier but 300% in my book is serious. Keep us informed and I am sure it will get sorted out. Regards Jimbo

I've actually worked out the problem so thought I'd come back to tell what it was incase you were curious :lol:
It was.....

the bloody boiler! Left it running as I did in our previous house but this 1 is a monster, the old 1 was new, basically it was costing more than anything else put together.
The bills in this house are higher slightly anyway but that'll soon hopefully change when I switch supplier.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my lil dilema @ least now I can run the pool filter with out fear 8)
If you do read this and decide to take pity on me again could you explain to me how to work out how much leccy I'm using the way I wanted to before?
