Buying my 1st tester

Hello there...!
I'm thinking of purchasing my first tester I'm mainly working on domestic at the mo, I have used a megger mft in the past and was thinking of getting a mft 1553 but before I fork out on one I wonder if any one has any advice on whether there are any comparable alternatives? I have looked into the new kewtech KT65..is it any good?? has anyone used this?..

I have a car lamp with leads and crop clips soldered on that you could use - it would give you far more use than the megger - and cheaper as well:mad:

I have 16 meggers, all less than 2 years old, they are that bad that i have had one borrowed from megger for 18 MONTHS now, whilst they are repairing mine - i have NEVER got to the point where i could give it back

they currently have three of mine in under warranty

Some meters have been back 3 or 4 times already:mad:

what i love about them, is the sequence of testing continuity - null leads, go to take measurement, get a -ve reading, renull leads, got to take a measurement, get a -ve reading, etc etc although it does get better after the first 10 times each morning:mad:

plus of course, the plug leads comes with a special-to-type connector, so the first time i wanted to do cross connect checks on a ring final, and needed to just use L&N, or L&E, of course i couldnt do it - however megger agreed to supply me the lead i ACTUALLY needed for about 40 quid PER METER

Want a switched probe sir? that'll do nicely *Kerching*

Want to know how to even just put the f'ing strap on sir? - dont look in the manual or ask the sales rep cos neither has the information:mad:

i started buying Flukes (i have 4 1651's) and they were a couple of hundred cheaper, and thats NOT counting the fact that the plug lead comes as standard, as does the switched probe (theres a hundred quid for starters)

oh and when they are nulled, they STAY nulled, and mine get a proper battering, and not one of them has even flintched yet - oh yeah, and you dont have to change the batteries every 5 mins either

you pays your money and you takes your choice, but if meggers were a tenner in the pub, i still wouldn't buy another one:mad:
