    Hi John

Could you please explain to me in laymans terms about different potentials and how it effects things. And also would I be correct in saying that the neutral is used as a parallel path at a different potential to the live for the circuit to work. And if so how do things work across to phases without a neutral, wouldn't they be at the same potential.

If you can help as always I would be very grateful. Please remember as simple as you can, as I am struggling a bit. Thanks.

this may sound a bot stupid... but i'd like to learn more about the principles of electricity, like how generators work and what the neutral actually does... can you shed some light on that for me please or point me in the right direction... i have been working for about a month now and i have so many questions like that floating round my head... i don't just want to know how to do it... i want to know how it works...

    thanks JohnC
