Train 4 Trade Skills
Are they any good?
I've heard that anyone using these kind of training centre's are just wasting there money.
I've just started the course and I'm wondering if I've made a big mistake going down this route to achieve the relevant qualifications to be an electrician and that I'll struggle to find work once I've completed the course.
All honest comments welcome.
Many Thanks
Adam

Re: Train 4 Trade Skills
What are you doing with them? If i remember correctly they offer long courses that cost a fortune. I went with Able Skills in Dartford and did the level 2 EAL VRQ as well as the intro course. These were two week-long full time courses and cost just over a grand all-in. The instructors there were top notch as far as I'm concerned - not only knowledgeable but very approachable as well. I passed the course, and while it's not ideal to be working with just this certificate, and I'm far from what you would call a proper spark, it is an essential first rung of the ladder especially if you are looking to get into domestic work in a short amount of time. Once you have done this you will have to register with a competent person's scheme (I have my ELECSA assessment tomorrow - NAIL BITING NERVES!!!!) and once you have (hopefully) passed that you will have to get your 2382:10 wiring regs exam done within 12 months (that is £450 in Able Skills but probably could just do the exam elsewhere if you know how to use your red book - you can take the book in the exam with you) and there we have it. From there I plan on doing NVQ, Testing and Inspection G&G and hopefully eventually moving into commercial and even industrial work. Just gotta get this damn assessment out of the way first.
Not everyone agrees with this sort of quick route and believe long courses and appreticeships are better, which they probably are, but unfortunately not all of us have the time or funding.-----------It's not what you do that makes you tired, it's how you sleep at night-------------

Re: Train 4 Trade Skills
I signed up with Train 4 Trade Skills and although I had done my certificates years ago wasn't sure what I needed to do to refresh. They sold me this long course for loads of money and the next day I checked and realised I only had to go to college for a week and pay £500 to re fresh. Managed to stop the payments going through and get my deposit back. Really angry that they sold me somethig that I didn't need!!
