Upgrades.
If i replace an old consumer unit do I hav e to upgrade the main equipotintial bonding to gas and water if its 6.0mm2? I know we would usually install 10.0mm2 but is 6.0mm adequate and comply?
I am currently running a job where we are upgrading domestic properties to the 17th eddition. Basically changing old wylex 3036 ccu, installing smoke alarms and upgrading bonding. The majority of the time the stop tap is located at the otherside of the property and can take half a day to get a new cable over there. If it has a 6.0mm2 cable and i can prove continuity can it be left in? Help!
Many Thanks,
Scott

Re: Upgrades.
It would depend on a couple of things i.e, the condition of the bonding conductor i.e is it showng signs of overheating at all???, also if the earthing system is TN-C-S then it would need upgrading to a 10mm regardless.
544.1.1 also refers.
