    Default Kitchen sink

Hello all, trying to find the reg that tells me the minimum horizontal distance from a kitchen/utility room sink for a socket outlet. My boss seems to think it 300mm but I can't find any reference to that figure. Thanks

You wont find one either since there is no minimum distance. There is a recomended distance of 300mm which i think is either in the OSG or the Electricians guide to building regs. Either way there is no reference in BS7671. The only regulation that would come into play is accessories being suitable for the enviroment and external influences. Oh and ofcourse good old common sense.

    Regards.

300mm is quoted in IEE Guidance notes 1 Selection and Erection I believe.
