Default Installation question regarding Part P

    Hello

I was an electrician for 17 years, then changed to carpentry... for various reasons.
I am building a large garden studio, that will require wiring.
My question is whether there is any way of me carrying out the wiring to current regulations, but getting the building inspector (or another spark) to sign it off regarding Part P compliance.
I know that most sparkys ain't going to want to put their name to someone else work, so I was hoping the building inspector could provide this service. However, they just don't seem to want to answer any emails regarding this subject.
Obviously it is not worth me obtaining Part P just for this project (plus I have no inspectable recent electrical installations anyway).
Just seems stupid to get a sparky in.... when there is already one there!

    Thanks for your time

    Steve

Well... I give up. No one wants to know, the building inspector doesn't want to know..... so I will just wire it myself - stuff Part P, and no-one will ever be the wiser. So much for doing things the proper way!

Hi Steve, just seen your own reply and understand your frustration.I am part P registered and cannot inspect anyone elses work(or so I am lead to believe).I can also not do periodic testing,I am with the NICEIC.Other governing bodies I think allow third party testing if the tester has seen the work during its installation, but dont take my word for it.You can register your job with the area building authority for a fee which I thought would include a final inspection ! I have not seen one yet that has been tested,so I fully sympathise with you for trying to do the job right.I find most people dont give a damn about the regs, tradesman and public alike, all us registered guys are just as fed up as yourself, good luck, cheers Andy
