How can a pre paid electric meter cause flooding???
I am due to move into a basement flat..
I went in last week and the carpet inside under the fuse box was damp and the area outside by the meter cupboard flooded.
The letting agent has told me this is due to the previous tennants not turning off the electricity supply - does this make any sense to anyone ??? Why would this cause a flood???
Please shed some light for me somebody...
Many thanks!

According to Scottish and Southern Energy they can leak a black tar like substance that has a funny smell or a clear liquid, they say thet if either of these things happen you should call your electricity supplier and they will send someone out to look at it.

In settings when energy savings during certain periods are desired, meters may measure demand, the maximum use of power in some interval. In some areas the electric rates are higher during certain times of day, reflecting the higher cost of power resources during peak demand time periods.
