help needed
hi i was wondering if anyone could help me. one of my bedroom connectors had broken where the light bulb fits into so i changed it with a new connector and when i turned electricity back on none of the lights in the house worked so i checked fuses and one fuse wire had blown so i replaced the wire in fuse and the downstairs lights worked but not the upstairs ive checked fuse box and everything seems to be o.k with the fuse wires in the fuses but were still without lights upstairs can anyone tell me what you think the problem is id be very gratefull thanx.

Have you replaced the lampholder and the flex that it connects to? if you have, check your connections from the flex into the ceilling rose, check them for tightness and whether you have connected them to the right terminals and the right way round and also check the connections from the flex to the lampholder for tightness and whether they are connected to the correct terminals in the holder .

the wires should be connected like this diagram with the live of the flex connecting to the terminal that is next to the switched live wire and the neuteral of the flex connecting to the terminal near the neuteral wires.
The supply and switch wires in this diagram are in the old colours where red is live and black is neuteral and black with a piece of red tape on or a piece of red sleeving is the switched live wire, nowadays live wires are brown neuteral wires are blue and switched live wires are brown with a piece of red tape round or a piece of red sleeving on.
