Bathroom Downlighters - Transformers?
Hi Everyone,
Some bulbs have gone in my bathroom (halogen spots). When I have gone to change them the new ones still don't work. I have been told I need new transformers, but don't really understand this.
Does each bulb have its own transformer? Where is the transformer? Are they easy to change?
Thanks for your help everyone.

Re: Bathroom Downlighters - Transformers?
There are two types of transformers.
One type supplies a single lamp, and the other suplies multiple lamps.
It may be that you have the type that supplies multiple lamps, and it has stopped working, or it may be that a number of single lamp transformers have stopped working.
Of course, it could be that there is a break in the circuit.
Both types will most likely be above the ceiling.
Single types will be attached to each light fitting, and can usually be accessed by prising the fitting down out of the ceiling and carefully withdrawing the cable/wires.
You should find two wires usually white, connected to a small box. The box will have writting printed on it informing you of the ratings, frequency, etc. This box is the transformer, there should be a cable feeding into the box, this is the 230V supply.
If you have a single transformer supplying multiple lights, you will probablly have to go into the loft to find it.
There will be a box with one cable feeding in, and another going to the lights.
p.s. you don't appear to offer BSL as a language.
