    At last,, found a Rapitest elctrical multimeter in the garage. But don't know how to use it.

    Friend came over with simple screwdriver tester. The wires are live.
    Have also discovered transformer in cupboard upstairs, 75 watts, which is odd because there are six twenty watt bulbs running off it.
