    Default three-way switching

CHi can anyone help me. On returning after months to the second fix on a 5 story house i have realised that i have accidently ended up with the switch wire coming into the intermediate switch@ Does anyone know how to reconfigure without pulling a new cable through to the two way switch at one end of the three-way switching? cheers Aidge

make it into a two gang switch with two- two ways if you have a switch wire for something else at the end that is. otherwise your pretty much stuffed.....

Thanks. So if i make the middle switch (where the switch wire is) a 2-way switch then the three-core and earth to each switch 2 way switching that would work at all three switches?

no. i i am guessing you have a 3 core at one end two three cores and a switch wire! in the middle and a three core at the other end. so all you can do is make it into a two way switching arrangement and you will have to ditch the one of the 3 cores or, if say you do have a switch wire at one end you could pair that up with a 3 core and then you will have two two way circuits but you can only do this if you have another switch wire for something else. maybe give me a little more info is it a hall way a stairwell? what wires do you have where and so on....

yes it can be done.at the intermediate switch connect the strappers as normal.then with connect brown wire from twin &earth to one brown of one 3 core, then connect the blue (sleeved brown)of the twin & earth to the remaining brown 3 core wire.connect your 2 two way switches as normal job done.i know its a bit late for this job but future reference is handy.
