Information
Just after some information on licencing.
Im from Australia and hold a full Australian licence. im currently looking for work in the UK but an having no luck because i dont have a piece of paper saying that in qualified to 16th or 17th guilds. Im quite sure that my Australian licence will cover all the rules and regs.
Just wondering if anyone knows of somebody i could contact to try get some sort of equivalent qualification.
i have called city and guilds and NICEIC, but all they can tell me is that i have to sit an exam, which funnily enough... they run for a small fee of £600+. i just need information from someone who is not just going to tell me i need to pay them money... if possible.
please help!!!

Re: Information
To perform electrical work in domestic and public places you do need to hold the 17th edition regs certificate in order to sign off work (as it is regulated by the local authorities), you will also need to know proceedures for inspection and test, their are colleges and institutions around the Uk that will provide block (i.e. 3-5 days courses) on the 17th edition regs for around £300+, for work in factories you dont need the 17th edition certificate but you MUST comply with the 17th edition regs, the 17th edition regs are available on ebay for about £60 ish, the current copy has a red cover
Hope this helps
