    Default 2391 Practical

    Hi

I am taking 2391 prectical this week, and have a few queries:

    1. when testing cont of ring final conductors, how do I connect the opposite legs (P1 to N2) whilst I do the test? I have used a connector block in the field, is this OK for the exam?

    2. When testing the cont at the outlet, do I remove the cover and test on the actual terminations of the socket/fitting? I have a plug that I can connect my tester to and then use this to do the test; can I use this on the exam.

    3. When carring out the inspection, do I remove face plates and check visually check all connections and wire colours?

It seems to me that passing 2391 is like passing the driving test, what we do in the exam does not seem to match what we actually do in the field! Maybe that's the point - we should all do it "by the book".

did the practical yesterday afternoon. managed to some how pass (cost me 2 crisp fifties though). in answer to your questions; yes use a connector to connect the conductors and the device to test from the face plates. They will have those kind of things there anyway and more. I would say if you have carried out the ring final test properly you will not need to visully check the back of the sockets. You are on a time limit so you need to do the test as efficiently as poss. One last tip get your isolation procedure (test live/ dead / live right incl, lock offs as that is closly scrutinised good luck
