    Default 17th update certificate void?

NAPIT contacted me (& >300 others), that after an audit by C&G, my 17th edition 2381-20 certifcate may be voided by City & Guilds because my 16th edition certificate (taken late 2001) may now not be an acceptable qualification to permit my entrance for the 17th edition update course in the first place!

I have also heard that NIC-IEC members are having the same problem. NAPIT are working on the problem. I paid for my course in good faith like everyone else having presented my current 16th edition certificate to be accepted onto the course. If I lose this 17th edition certificate, I lose major contracts.

Who moved the goal posts after almost a year? Why should thousands of us pay for a new course/ exam when we have already paid once before in good faith? Thoughts anyone?

Thats a new one on me, as long as you did yours after the 2001 ammendments then you should be ok.

I did the same update course through the NIC and was told as long as 16th done no earlier than 2001 it was fine

I have heard now though it must be no earlier than 2004

They can please themselves there is no way im shelling out for it again

2382-20 Entry Requirements ie update course
this is required by City and Guilds and 2001 is the magic date but don't take my word for it check out the city & guilds link below,

ps NIC-EIC work with city and guilds. and follow there rules.

City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: June 2001 (2381),

These requirements have been agreed with SummitSkills and other providers and we believe consistency by Awarding Body's in the entry requirements for the 17th edition update will benefit the industry as a whole.

2001 is not the magic date!

If you have a 16th certificate (C&G 2381) that has BS7671:2001 on it then you are elegible for the update,, however, if you achieved your 16th throught the C&G 2330 (2330-07 or 2330-0 or 2360, then its from Jan 2004

Thats where the two dates of 2001 and 2004 come from

I have taught a few hundred students on 2382-20 (17th update), and many of those (mostly under 25's ex-apprentices) achieved theirs through the 2004 date

    so there
