Im an approved electrician and am about to take a course which will enable me to sign off periodic inspections but only on domestic properties. However, i was told that by law you dont even have to be registered with any governing body to carry out a periodic inspection.

I am therefore, considering not taking the course, however, am concerned that if i do a periodic inspection for a landlord then it wont be registered with a governing body and therefore, will not be valid. Any thoughts on this would be gratefully received.

Also if you carry out a periodic inspection and every circuit is fine but the fuse board is not a current 17th edition dual rcd board then do you fail the periodic as not all the circuits have rcd protection. Or do you simply suggest that the board should be updated at the nearest oppurtunity and go on to pass the periodic inspection report?
