    Default Wiring Abroad - Italy

    Hi to all,
Within the next month or so i'm starting wiring a new farmhouse in Italy and would appreciate if someone could answer a couple of qeuries.
In Italy they seem to do thing slightly differentley to what we do in the UK.
The Italian electric board is in the process of installing a main supply of 6kw, via overhead cables on pylon’s. A water supply is also being installed.
    About Myself...
I have been wiring houses and installing consumer units for forty years in the UK but have no experience of working abroad. I retired from the building trade around 3 years ago.
I have been informed that I can do the electrical work in Italy, but will have to have the installation checked, commissioned and certified by a qualified local electrician.
I would be most grateful if you could answer some of my questions, and also give any possible advice.....

    1. Can I supply and fit a UK a consumer unit that has been bought in the UK? Or will I have to buy one in Italy?

    2. The consumer unit I have in mind will be complete with RCD and MCB breakers. Will this be OK?

    3. 16mm Tails are used in the UK. What size tails are used in Italy (6kw supply) ?

    4. I intend to fit an earth rod in the ground directly under the consumer unit which is in the basement on an external wall and also a bonding to the main stop tap at point of entry using 10mm earth cable. Is this acceptable?

    5. Will 6mm earth cable be acceptable for bonding the bath, basin, sink, etc,

    6. Would I be better bonding these fittings direct to consumer unit or to the earth rod?
