drilled through cable
Hi, while drilling a hole in preparation to hang a picture i drilled through an electrical cable from a socket, it tripped out the circuit breaker, i tripped in the circuit breaker and power was restored. What i'm wondering is will i have to chase the wall out and relace the cable ?. i don't actually use the socket in question, but i'd like to know what the best thing to do would be ? ....in an ideal world i'd rather not have to chase the wall out.
Thanks

Re: drilled through cable
'...you don't use the actual socket...'
But what about the next person. Does the socket still work... if not then you definitely broke the whole cable and probably are leaving a live wire for someone when they tap in a nail somewhere else.
My ****en run is - 'you break it you fix it'. If this is a spur, then isolate it at the ring connection point and dont leave the wire hot. Worst case - could arc and spark and set light to your wall??
my 2 cents. where is everybody else.
