starting up a business
Hi. I am currently looking to start self-employed just getting any sort work i can get my hands on as i am really finding it hard to get a job at the moment. I have mainly done house bashing but i think i have gained relatively good experience at the tender age of 22. I was wondering if anyone could offer me any advice that may be useful at all in finding work or anything else i may need to know. anything would be appreciated. I am fully qualified up to 17th edition. Thanks

Hi dude,
If you're serious to get jobs try rated tradesman website, when i first started out was referal of clients previous but you dont get jobs one after the other like that. I used to use Ratedtradesamn which i found when i used to work for Mr Electric London East hehe they were good for something.
Try it out, costs though but will give you leads on jobs etc...
Well worth it and depending on your skills you get rated by each client too so it's a nice way to build a portfolio.

Re: starting up a business
Hi jor,
You could contact some of the local banks, they may be able to help with advice because normally they are looking for new clients and if you are starting a new business then you would be a good catch.
Good luck

Sorry but the banks won't offer you any advice. They know nothing of our industry but will be good for you to borrow money from and get into loadsa debt before you have even started!
Get on Yell.com and advertise. It is going to cost you but you have to spend money to make money - no quick fix. Referrals will come in time but for a while it is an uphill struggle. Good luck!
