    Default doing a rewire

    i want to do a rewire for my friends mum who wants to sell the house but i have been told that i must be an approved electrician to be able to sign off any jobs. is this true and is there anyway around this. im am qualified with 17th edition.

    Contact your local building control & notify what you propose to do pay their fee (£200ish) do the first fix, call building control again to inspect, do 2nd fix & call building control to inspect & test & sign off as per part P of building regs.

    Yes you can do the work.

    Exactly as is said above. Being 'approved' is only a JIB thing and means nothing in the real world.
