how to sign off my loft?
I'm a new member, an electrician who don't normally work domestic.
A couple of years ago I had a loft exstention done comprising of an on-suit and a bedroom. I've installed a few sockets and lighting off exsisting circuits all up to 16th edition. The rest of the extention has been signed off, Problem is part p hasn't been signed off and wanting to move house without spending money on extras (ie split board and other 17th additions etc).
What's the best way to get part p sorted; Will the council fine me for the works that I have done even though the work is upto a good standard.
This has kept me up at night with frustation and considard another career.

Re: how to sign off my loft?
well if you are an electrician then you are qualified to sign off BS7671 certificates
I would notify it, trouble is, as you have guessed, you be effectively saying it is a new installation, so should be to the 17th
Cant you just stick a few RCBO's in?

Re: how to sign off my loft?
The council came around and signed off all other parts of the job and has see the end result before she left mentioned part p. I tested the work at the time but part p being new and me being unsure got put on the backburner. The council knowing when the job started and there being a clause saying that all works should be noticified within 30 days.
Is there a way that the results that I did at the time of completion would comply?
Are councils understanding in these sorts of situations, or will they just quote I need to be part of a compatent person scheme.

Re: how to sign off my loft?
no, you dont need to be part of a competent persons scheme
All you need to do is submit a valid BS7671 certificate to your local authority, so lets say you 'tested' it last week, then thats when the cert would be signed......if you know what i mean.......

I have a trunk plywood floor board...would it be safe to just let it roll around underneath assuming I wrap the terminals with rubber?

Re: how to sign off my loft?
Cs if you read the question you would see the loft installation was compleated 2 years ago , 17th I think not! 16th it is.
Regards JimboNever argue with an idiot , they will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience
